US Army Test Anti-Drone Concept

Target drone was destroyed by a 50mm Bushmaster cannon at a range of 1500 meters at Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona on Aug 19. US Army engineers shot down two Griffon Aerospace MQM-170 Outlaws using command guidance and command warhead detonation. The first unmanned aircraft was enagged at over a kilometer range and the second at about 1500 meters. This is a continuation of testing that saw the first successful shoot down of a loitering UAV on Apr 22. Adjustment to the fire-control system were made after the April 22 tests, and were validated during the latest testing. The shoot down at 1500 meters had exceeded the Enhanced Area Protection and Survivability demonstration objectives.
