30 Sep. Italy's first G-550 AEW. Seen during a stopover at Ireland's Shannon airport to the way to Tel Aviv for modification for the role of Airborne Early Warning. This is part of a $750 million order placed in 2012 for two aircraft as part of a counter deal for the Israeli Air Force’s purchase of 30 Italian built M346 jet trainers.
Based on the Gulfstream G550, the G550 AEW carries the Elta EL/W-2085 phased array radar as well as electronic intelligence and communications intelligence equipment.
The G-550 AEW is service with the Israeli Air Force and the Republic of Singapore Air Force.
