The HMAS Canberra – the lead ship of a new LHD class – was commissioned in November 2014. The Royal Australian Navy is currently working towards its initial operational capability (IOC) and final operational capability (FOC) to be attained in late 2015 and late 2017 respectively. That goal is a step closer with the trials of CH-47D operations from its deck.
