Lockheed Martin to Develop Counter-Battery Radar Systems

Lockheed Martin was awarded a $85million contract to build  seven new counter-battery radar systems to replace the legacy AN/TPQ-36 and AN/TPQ-37 mortar and artillery locating radars now in the Army’s inventory. The radar designated as AN/TPQ-53, works in either 360- or 90-degree modes. The system consists of a solid-state phased array radar mounted on a five-ton Oshkosh Defense battlefield truck, with a power generator on tow. A second truck carries an operations control shelter and a backup power generator.
