Israel's Rafael's Iron Beam Counter Rocket, Artillery and Mortar (C-RAM) system was displayed at Seoul International Aeros[ace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2015. The Iron Beam system uses High Energy Laser mounted on trucks in place of the interceptor missile used in Iron Dome system. Compared to the Iron Dome and other missile/gun based C-RAM system, Iron Beam has the advantage of almost limitless engagement (subjected to the sustainability of energy source and serviceability of the system). It is not limited by the number of ready to use munition. Another advantage is the faster reaction time. Operational deployment of the Iron Dome by Israel have revealed the limited effectiveness against short range rocket and mortar. Iron Beam can potentially cover this capability gap. The Iron Beam is also touted as an Anti-UAV system.
