China Launches New Class of Destroyer - Type 055

China launched the first of new class destroyer,, the Type 055. The 10,000-tonne warship was launched at the Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai. The new destroyer is similar in size to the US Navy’s Arleigh Burke class AEGIS destroyer and is billed as a major upgrade of Chinese sea power.
