USS Zumbalt, the largest destroyer every built for the US Navy started sea trail on 7 Dec 2015. The 16,000 ton ship has electric propulsion and a stealthy design to reduce its radar signature. Extensive use of automation will allow the destroyer to operate with a much smaller crew size as compared to current destroyers. USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000) is the first of a class of three ships. The original requirement for 32 ships was trimmed due to budget constraints.
