Boeing has completed the hand over of the last of four Boeing 737-700 Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) aircraft to the Turkish Air Force. The main sensor is the Multi-role Electronically Scanned Array (MESA) radar giving Turkey the only AEW & C capability in the region. Upon operational, the four aircraft will be a significant boost to the capability of the Turkish Air Force which is currently on high alert against Russian forces operating in Syria. The aircraft were ordered in 2007 under Project Peace Eagle. Also known as E-7 Wedgetail in Australian service, four aircraft are also on order by South Korea.
